L.A. Kattenhorn & Partners Resurfaces Road at Front Lawn Community Hub
Family-run L.A. Kattenhorn & Partners Limited is a Road Surfacing Contractor based in Havant. The company’s services include all aspects of road surfacing for small or large projects including everything from football stadiums and major supermarket car parks to full depth road construction.
The Havant-based business which has been in operation for more than 60 years and comprises a full-scale workforce of experienced supervisors and operatives, came to the aid of Hampshire FA’s Front Lawn Community Hub. The road has suffered increased deterioration in recent years, escalated by excessive usage and poor weather conditions that has exposed weakened areas over time. Senior representatives of the company conducted a site visit and agreed to resurface the entire road and carpark to support the sport facility and its many users.
Front Lawn Community Hub sees over 5k members access the site monthly to use the 3G football pitch for training and matches. Aside from partner football clubs that use the site daily, the facility also sees holiday camps, academies, courses delivered, a youth hub (complete with universal credit services) access the site for its array of services. The site is also complete with a food pantry to support local citizens and members in need of essential food supplies.
With high volumes of footfall traffic and site usage, the effects of the road were beginning to cause a problematic situation for staff and visitors accessing the site.
“One of the biggest benefits of having the road and car park resurfaced is the safety element. We’re trying to make these areas more inclusive to access this fantastic facility and we want everyone to come. We don’t wish for people to struggle, and we certainly don’t want any trip hazards. A whole new value has been created for the area”. Gwen Robinson, Havant Borough Council, Cabinet Lead for Communities.
L.A. Kattenhorn & Partners have their roots firmly embedded in the grassroots game, with children and grandchildren playing for local grassroots football teams in the Havant borough. The organisation which has ties to the grassroots game, has perfectly captured the importance of local businesses aligning their values, ethics, and interests to support local causes and the wider community.
"The partnership with Hampshire FA is very important to us as a business. We are a Havant based company and wanted to give back to the local community. The partnership demonstrates our commitment to corporate social responsibility and aligns us to a hub that plays a significant part in the local community for its many users” Holly Kattenhorn, L.A. Kattenhorn & Partners, SHEQ & HR Manager.
The newly resurfaced road and carpark has reopened once again to the public and site users. Citizens with pushchairs or mobility scooters, are now freely able to access the site with considerable ease, compared to before when the site was dotted with large potholes and craters.
“This is going to have such a huge impact for the local community”. Declan Hellyer, Front Lawn Community Hub, Community Manager.
