New Walking Football Sessions
Marie Curie is one of the UK’s most respected charities, providing high quality, hands-on nursing care to people living with any terminal illness. Marie Curie helps people to stay fit and active, so they can remain independent for as long as possible and make the most of the time that they have left. Their bereavement service for family and friends also helps them to tackle what is one of the major causes of loneliness and isolation for people over 50.
The FA and Marie Curie have developed a partnership that, through a series of pilots, will explore the role of walking football in improving the physical and mental well-being of participants and in developing a volunteer workforce. We want to utilise football to improve the mental well-being and physical activity levels of those over the age of 50 as well as encouraging footballers back into the game to play Walking Football!
