Snowgoose Win the Sunday Veterans Cup

A minute's silence was observed in memory of Robin Osborne, the President of the Hampshire Football Association, who passed away recently.
The match was played at the Winklebury Football Complex at Basingstoke on Sunday 15th May 2022.
The match was sponsored by RS Purdey Roofing Contractor and the match ball was sponsored by Spire Performance.
The final was played in heavy rain which did not assist the veteran legs out there!
It took about a quarter of an hour of even play before a shot on goal was recorded, when Snowgoose's Bradley Smith missed a sitter after collecting a cross, and with only the 'keeper to beat, he shot over the bar.
They came closer when James Matlock was in a good position, but the ball ran away from him as he prepared to shoot into an empty net. At the other end, Eversley's Sam Skully put the ball just over the bar and just before half time Lewis Hufill shot straight at the 'keeper. Sam Brierly.
The second half belonged to Eversley as they enjoyed most of the possession, although not dominating all of the game.
Snowgoose began the half on the attack, when Smith put a free-kick over the bar, but it was Eversley who pressed however, and Andy Griffiths chipped a ball over the bar. Then came a period when they dominated and the Snowgoose's 'keeper was kept busy. The breakthrough came in the 68th minute when Eversley's Steve Taylor blasted home from the edge of the box.
As Eversley continued to press, Skully put in a good run but his shot was saved and the 'keeper made two more saves before Skully hit the bar again.
Snowgoose suffered a setback when Stuart Woods was sent off close to full-time and Eversley wrapped up the tie in the 90th+1 minute when Andy Griffiths score with a hard drive.
The Referee was Carl Rooney who was assisted by Simon Graves and Stephen Lynch and the Fourth Official was Declan Skehan.
The Player of the Match Award went to Eversley's Sam Skully.
