WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON...
Local Legends is a new competition created by the University of Winchester and Hampshire Football Association which offers grassroots footballers the chance to be treated like Premier League stars.
The competition aims to highlight grassroots football by giving adult male and adult female teams the chance to have their games filmed and analysed by top experts and watched by thousands of people – like Match of the Day.
The winning team will have one of their games filmed by a camera crew from the journalism course at the University of Winchester using the latest technology. There will be live commentary from a top professional, slow-motion replays and post-match interviews.
All the footage will be edited down into a slick highlights programme which will be analysed by leading sports broadcaster Angus Scott and a panel of well-known football pundits. The full programme will then be published online.
How does it work?
• Clubs or individual players are invited to enter a team. Entry is free and entry forms are available on the Hampshire FA website from 21 October and the deadline for entries is 10 November.
• A shortlist of four teams go to a public vote in November.
• The team that gets the most votes wins – the winner will be announced at the beginning of December.
• The winning team then nominates which game (after Christmas) they would like to be featured on Local Legends.
